Tiba’s restaurant was established in 1983 by Hassan (father) and Mohamed (son). Since 2000 the restaurant is run and managed by three brothers Hassan, Salem & Mohamed. Their mother Hoda continues to lead the way and has taught the brothers well.Lebanese restaurant offers lot's of grilled meat, kebab and fresh salads with hommus and bread. We both ordered Shish Kafta Serve ($14.80 each) which were lamb skewers and included Tabouli salad, garden salad, rice, pickled turnip (pink colored and funny tasted), hommus and yoghurt and cucumber dip. It was not anything remarkable but good value for the money.
After the dinner, stomachs full and happy, we went to the Social Club at Estonian House. Social Club happens once a month every third Friday and brings along Estonians living in Melbourne. I just love going there and meeting people from my home country, talk in Estonian and drink Estonian ciders. Bar prices are really cheap, as in Estonia:). This time there was an Estonian guy who runs the Estonian news program for SBS news in Australia. David was interviewed and asked about his experience in Estonian Social Club nights and why he likes them even he can't understand Estonian. I got a chance for a few words as well. Great night as always. The SBS Radio broadcast can be heard here.
