Beebidušš aka baby shower

On Sunday I was invited to a baby shower at one of Estonian friend who is living in Melbourne. She is due to give birth in one and a half months. In Australia, as well as probably in many other countries around the world, it's a tradition to hold a welcoming party for the newcomer. It's thrown before the baby is born and the idea is to gather together and celebrate the recent birth of the baby. I think it is a nice tradition. In Estonia we have something similar called katsikud which is a celebration for the newborn after the baby is born. Everybody comes along to the baby shower with little presents and sometimes there are played special games. New to become mother had prepared us all good Estonian style snacks, authentic potato salad as well as lovely muffins and cakes. It sure was nice to catch up with everyone and talk Estonian.

  1. Thank you so much dear for the great baby shower photos and the beautiful décor and food! I am really excited these days for our sister-in-law’s baby shower that we would be hosting at one of the San Francisco venues. Most of the guests and even mommy-to-be is vegan so I am finding vegan party food ideas. Do you have any inspirations?

  2. Kanada-eestlastel (väga võimalik, et ka USAs) on kasutusel baby shower jaoks palju toredam väljend: beebisabin Kahju, et Eestis pole see kanda kinnitanud.
